There are many reasons that why we get attracted to the Hotel Industry whether to find the same sense of luxury in our career, to roam around the world or to be able to learn new cultures and feel the differences. One of the Hotel Management Intern in Abu Dhabi felt same and started his journey in this vast and ever changing Industry. Let us learn from Godwin’s Hotel Management Internship Experience.
Godwin, please share something about your college and your Hotel Management Internship?
Sure, I did my Bachelor’s in Hotel Management from Oriental School Of Hotel Management, Kerela and completed my internship from The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. Let me tell you something about the hotel. The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi is one of the finest hotels in Abu Dhabi, set against the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The Hotel has 532 rooms & suites and eight restaurants each providing unique culinary experience.
Could you tell us about your role at the hotel?
Well, I was a Culinary Intern in the pastry department of The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. It was an outstanding experience for me to work under well experienced and professional Chef, Mr. Laurent Allereau, the Executive Pastry Chef at The Ritz-Carlton. The exposure that I get there is so fruitful that I equipped myself with a lot of skills. I learned various pastry production methods, and I get exposure to hygiene standards, cooking and plating ways and worked with the best quality ingredients. These helped me in getting a real sense and experience of an international five-star hotel, and it was an excellent opportunity for me to learn and hence build my confidence. Every day and each time you learn something from the kitchen, and for me, this is the best experience I ever had.
Do you think to do a Hotel Management Internship Abroad helps?
Yes indeed and it worked for me too, and I don’t think I would have got this much of experience in such a short time( 6 months) in India. Most importantly you are working in an entirely different culture from yours, you are meeting Chefs from more than ten countries and always exposed to an international environment, and in Abu Dhabi (Capital of United Arab Emirates), it’s an unforgettable moment.
What next is on your list?
I am aspiring to be a Commis in Pastry Department. I’ve gained skills and experience to be a professional Pastry Chef, and I’m looking forward to joining the hotel.

Great! Tell us how you spent your leisure time there?
Well, I did a lot of traveling to many places here in Abu Dhabi, and whenever I get some free time, Food Photography has always been on top of my list. If you are the person who wants to explore then UAE is the right place for you. You’ll have to decide where you want to go.
