Programme Details

If you are between 18 and 20 years of age, have successfully completed or are completing Class XII, join the Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP) in one of the hotels of The Oberoi Group.

STEP Oberoi is an opportunity for students to participate in a three-year programme that offers practical training at a hotel of The Oberoi Group. You will be trained in the four core operational departments of a hotel: Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Service and Kitchen.

We offer two Programmes under STEP:

The Kitchen Operations Programme

The Kitchen Operations Programme involves training in Western and Indian kitchens and specialist sections such as bakery, pastry and cold kitchen.

The Hotel Operations Programme

The Hotel Operations Programme consists of two streams:

i. Front Office / Food and Beverage Service focus

The application process for these programmes begins in October each year. The programmes commence in August.

In addition to practical training in a hotel of The Oberoi Group, you are enrolled for a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Studies (BTS) from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). We provide assistance in the form of a dedicated study day once a week, IGNOU fees, reference books and an additional three weeks leave to enable you to take the IGNOU exams. We also offer you a monthly stipend, accommodation, meals on duty, uniform and medical insurance.

Your progress will be reviewed at regular intervals by means of written and practical assessments. Appraisals will be conducted to support the development of appropriate attitudes and behaviours. A transcript of achievement is issued at the end of each year.

This career opportunity is subject to your performance during the programme and availability of a suitable vacancy. Alternately you may seek entry into our two-year post graduate management training programme at The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD).
